The Discretionary Grants Scheme is managed by the Chairman and Deputy Chairman of the RSMA Trust. The total available funds for this scheme is £1000, subject to individual limits of £250.
The basic premise of this grant is the alleviation of financial hardship, and the financial hardship as the result of an unforeseeable emergency or a compassionate matter (e.g. the death or serious illness of a close relative resulting in additional travel costs, personal injury limiting access to college or a time extension to the course) or unusual circumstances leading to hardship, rather than simply a cash flow problem.
It is expected that applicants first seek assistance from the Imperial College Hardship Fund, who will in turn contact the RSMA for complementary support although direct application to the RSMA should be made when the need arises from a sudden and/or unexpected emergency.
